High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a manmade processed food invented by Japanese scientists in a laboratory in the mid 1960's when sugar prices were high, processed foods create health problems.
The ubiquitous use of HFCS is a result of a corn surplus in the mid seventies, it is in almost everything we eat and drink! (Read the Labels)
Corn syrup is a Glucose syrup made from corn starch. Fructose doesn't exist in corn syrup. HFCS made from corn syrup is manipulated and chemically altered using toxic chemicals to turn corn into corn starch. This alteration changes the extracted corn syrup from a compound that is predominantly glucose (simple sugar) to a manmade blend. The manmade blend fructose metabolizes in your body very differently than glucose. The Glucose molecules are metabolized by all of the cells in our body. The manmade blend of fructose, a processed food, bypasses the complex breakdown process required and goes straight to the liver and turns to fat deposits. High-fructose corn syrup is only metabolized by your liver.

HFCS stimulates complex chemical reactions in the body and causes increased production of an enzyme that instructs a cell whether to burn fatty acids or sugars; the more that is present at the cell surface the more the cell will burn sugar instead of fat. Fructose does not allow the release of a hormone (Leptin) that lets your brain know you are full, so you keep on eating.
